WEEK 1: REPENTANCE

Everything has a starting place.  In order to experience corporate revival and healing there must first be personal and corporate repentance.  The scripture which serves as the focus of these 40 days says it clearly: “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).”

WEEK 1: REPENTANCE (Continued)

This is one of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible.  Many of us would say: “we have done our part numerous times, Lord, but You have not done Your part and healed our land.”  But have we really done our part? This scripture reveals to us the process of repentance. The word “repent,” practically speaking, means to stop going one direction, to turn around completely and go the opposite way. “Seek My face and turn from their wicked ways.” Have you committed to the entire process and sought the face of God? To seek His face, one must turn from wicked ways.  It is like the groom who vows to his bride: “forsaking all others.” To “seek His face” we must turn away from everything else.

So, this first week our emphasis is on the process of repentance.  You will notice it begins with four pursuits that go with “seeking His face:” Repentance, humility, purity, and righteousness.  The week concludes with three outward displays that the process of transformation has taken place: Compassion, justice, and mercy.
