WEEK 5, DAY 33: Forgive Us
Forgive Us by Vivian Horton, BG First Church of the Nazarene
Scripture Reference: Esther 10
Prayer
Our Father in Heaven,
The story of Esther and Mordecai reminds us, Your Church, we should be working for the benefit of the people around us. To love You is to love our sisters and brothers in Christ. To love You, is to love our neighbor—both inside the faith and outside the faith. To love You, is to love our enemy.
Lord, forgive us for the times we have passed by a fellow human-being in need of our help. Forgive us for our fear that has prevented us from being a voice for those who do not have a voice, prevented us from taking action on behalf of the weak, and prevented us from building Your kingdom here on earth. You have not given us a spirit of fear but Your Holy Spirit of courage. Forgive us for our busy-ness, for taking on so many tasks to where we cannot be effective at working for the benefit of the people around us. May we make You and Your will for our lives our number one priority!
Transform our mindset to be Christ-minded. Jesus Christ always worked for the benefit of others. Each healing, resurrection, and activity Jesus participated in while on earth was to show the people around Your Love. Through us, Your living temples, Christ still works for the benefit of the world. May we be Your willing, committed, submitted children bring about Your Kingdom on earth. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
