WEEK 2, DAY 8: FEAR
Praying for the Nation of Tunisia by Bethany Pedigo
Scripture Reference: Ezra 8
Zach Williams’ song “Fear is a Liar” is a great song – here are the lyrics:
When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough
Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar
When he told you were troubled
You’ll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You’ll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change
FEAR LIES
If you have ever struggled with those accusations, and felt that they were all true, here is what God says about you. This is Isaiah 43:1-4 in the Message Translation: “Israel: ‘Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you:all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.'”
In Ezra 8 they were traveling through enemy territory with lots of money, but God protected them and they arrived safely in Jerusalem. I pray that if you are going through a frightening time, you will hear God’s message to you today – do not fear! Would you pray with me?
PRAYER
Merciful God, Who loves us so much, forgive us when we act in fear instead of faith. Keep us safe from all evils and sickness, in Jesus’ name. We declare that You are able to keep us and accomplish all of Your purposes in us! Amen.
