WEEK 4, DAY 27: TOLERANCE
Scripture Reference: Luke 11:1-13
I grew up on a farm with my 5 sisters and 4 brothers. That’s right, there were 10 of us kids! We didn’t have a lot, but one thing we did have was a lot of attitudes! Sassy, Stingy and well just plain smarty pants at times. My siblings and I fought like “Cats and Dogs”. We were constantly getting in trouble for the same things, over and over again. Oh, but we had a Mother that had the patience of Job. Mom’s tolerance level was beyond human ability. It didn’t take me long growing up to figure out what her secret was. It was her late-night visits on her knees, seeking and asking the Lord for direction. In the wee hours of the morning, I would wake up and hear Mama praying and calling out each of our names in prayer.
TOLERANCE & FORBEARANCE
Mom gave me my fair share of spankings, that helped to make me the woman I am today. Discipline brings discipleship! She loved us unconditionally, and never gave up on any of us. It was sometimes in the little things she did that stands out to me now as so special. This may sound insignificant or simple but my fav was when she would make her famous homemade spice cake as a special treat for us.
We each have those special people that God has brought into our lives, that may take a little extra effort, a little extra patience, and need a lot of Love. May we practice tolerance and may we never stop reaching out to show compassion to bear one another burdens. God is there for us in good and bad times. He wants us to seek. If we do, we will find him. To knock and he will open the door to us. If we ask and bring our needs to him, we will receive.

TIME TO CONTEMPLATE:
- Do you have that “Thorn in the Flesh” that seems to eat at you day in and day out? Could it be that God is teaching you to lean on him and trust him?
- You keep praying and nothing changes? How are you praying? Are you asking, seeking, knocking, and most of all believing he will answer?
PRAY:
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
Amen.
