WEEK 2, DAY 14: GENEROSITY

Scripture Reference: Mark 14:1-9

The Word of God provides a clear path of understanding the acts of generosity.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give…”

Generosity, a Kingdom Principle

Generosity is a Core Value of the Kingdom of God. Giving in love is the centerpiece of Heaven: “God so loved the World.” It is the foundation of Jesus offering Himself on the Cross, “no greater love than this: to lay down one’s life…”

How generous is this generosity? Heaven gave us the Holy Spirit, our Guide in the Journey of Faith.  My friend, this is full blown Generosity!

God’s Word lets us know we must be givers also. This passage is looking for the same core value of generosity in every Believer and Follower of Jesus.   Simply “GIVE.”

To be a Kingdom of God Builder we must give to the well being of others. Offering a hands up to those needing love, acceptance and forgiveness. Father did! Jesus did! Holy Spirit does daily!

As Believers and Followers of Jesus our core values should include being generous. Giving is a fundamental trait of the family of God.  (Read Luke 6vs37-38)

TIME TO CONTEMPLATE:

  1. Let’s dive deeper. Let’s take a look at ourselves. How is my generosity? Is it Kingdom like?
  2. How do I measure my giving? In amounts of money only?  When should I give? Is Sunday enough?
  3. I often say this to make a point about a selfish spirit: “You’re first after me.”  No, not in the Kingdom of Heaven. Giving is an act of Generosity. Every born again Believer and Follower of Jesus should be demonstrating generosity at every opportunity on any given day.

Pray:

Father I must confess my flesh will not allow me to place others before myself. To possess a Christ-Like spirit of generosity I surrender to the powerful guiding help of Holy Spirit. So today at this moment I surrender and ask that before this day is finished I will be more like Jesus. I offer myself to the well being of others which is my true act of generosity. In Jesus name Amen.
